£300 FINES FOR 45HR WEEKEND IN CAB REST BREAKS

01/11/2017 marks the start of the DVSA's sanctions on drivers spending their full weekly rests in their cabs in areas adjacent to public roads or lacking proper facilities.

Drivers found to be taking their full weekly rest in their cabs in areas deemed unsuitable can now be fined £300.

Areas adjacent to public roads, lacking toilets and other facilities are now prohibited for full weekly breaks. If a driver is found to be taking their full rest in such areas, the DVSA can now enforce a £300 fine and prohibit the driver from driving the vehicle for 45 hours from time of enforcement.

Areas such as Kent, will be severely effected due to parking shortages and high demand and therefore difficult to organise. Sanctions will not be enforced on drivers resting 'in-cab' during limited weekly/overnight rests.
