Ensuring FORS best practice and legal compliance is vital

The Knights of Old group has successfully maintained the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) silver standard requirement at its Luton site for the third successive year.

The FORS accreditation scheme aims to improve safety, fuel efficiency, economical operations and vehicle emissions in London and throughout the UK.

The Knights of Old group has three FORS depots: Kettering, Northampton and Luton, all of which have achieved FORS Bronze since 2010. Assessed on its own merits for the first time in 2015, Luton was the first within the Group to achieve Silver status and has done so again in 2017.

FORS Silver is the next level of industry standards and validates high quality practice, commitment to becoming safer, greener and more efficient as a fleet logistics operator. It is awarded to operators who maintain their Bronze accreditation and are able to demonstrate that they have developed driver licencing verification systems, all vehicles over 3.5 tonnes are equipped with a left turn audible warning system and all vehicles are fitted with blind spot minimsation devices.

Speaking on behalf of Knights of Old Group, Compliance Manager Tony Quenet said: "Ensuring FORS best practice standards and legal compliance is vital to the Knights of Old Group health and safety commitment. Being FORS compliant has become part of the fabric of our daily operation, our reputation of running a safe and fuel efficient fleet is built upon its principles.”

As champions of the FORS vision of improved transport standards across Europe, FORS Gold is the next milestone for Knights of Old Luton.
